I especially like big thick gates that have a presence and power, especially when the mass of the gate closes and latches shut. I remember seeing a Kurosawa film with a small boy closing a massive gate to a peach orchard, and I knew that I wanted to build such gates. / Work has always meant to me what I build, not what I pay someone else to build for me. I love the process often more than the result. The task is sacred. / On larger projects, I have a group of craftsman friends who are happy to help.
